Sabres 3, Canadiens 0
Ryan Miller made 34 saves for his sixth shutout of the season and Cody Hodgson scored two goals as the Buffalo Sabres continued their drive for a playoff spot with a 3-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.
The win moved the Sabres (35-29-10) into a tie with Washington for eighth place in the Eastern Conference at 80 points, but the Capitals hold a game in hand. The loss left the Canadiens (28-33-13) last place in the East and 28th in the overall standings.
The Sabres were opportunistic around the net as they took a 2-0 lead at the First Niagara Center.
Hodgson connected on a wraparound to open his scoring at 6: 15 of the first period.
Jason Pominville scored off a goalmouth scramble at 2: 31 of the second period. Price stopped a slapshot by Andrej Sekera, but the puck was batted around in front before Ville Leino nudged it to Pominville. Hodgson made it 3-0 with a power-play goal at 12: 45 of the third.
The Canadiens meet the Ottawa Senators on Friday night game at the Bell Centre.
