Cartier Martin tied a career high with 20 points in his second game under a 10-day contract, and the Wizards built a big lead and held on to it for a change, breaking a five-game losing streak Friday night with a 97-76 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Washington.
The loss knocked Philadelphia out of first place in the Atlantic Division, a game behind the Celtics, who won at Minnesota.
The Wizards had blown double-digit leads in their last three home games, but this time they didn't let up, playing with speed and hustle the entire game - not to mention 47 points from the bench.
The 76ers have lost six of nine and are struggling to score. They had only 36 points at halftime and found themselves outhustled to most of the loose balls. Washington outrebounded Philadelphia, 52-38, and the 76ers had only 2 fast-break points in the first half.
Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young scored 14 points apiece for the 76ers. Andre Iguodala, returning after missing two games with tendinitis in his left knee, had just 7 points in 34 minutes.
Hawks 100, Knicks 90 - Joe Johnson scored 28 points and Willie Green carried host Atlanta in the fourth quarter in a win over New York.
Green scored 15 of his 20 points in the final period, including a 3-pointer from the corner that stretched Atlanta's lead to 94-84.
Mike Woodson, who coached the Hawks from 2004-10, returned to Philips Arena for the first time as the Knicks' interim coach.
Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 36 points and rookie Iman Shumpert matched his career high with 25. No other Knick scored more than 7 points.
The Hawks got much more of a team effort than shorthanded New York, which was without the injured Amare Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin. Josh Smith added 23 points, Marvin Williams 13, and Jeff Teague 11 to go along with seven assists.
Heat 113, Raptors 101 - Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh scored 30 points each and visiting Miami beat Toronto for the seventh straight time.
LeBron James had 26 points and nine assists and Mario Chalmers added 14 points for the Heat.
DeMar DeRozan scored 28 points and Andrea Bargnani had 27 for Toronto.
Mavericks 100, Magic 98 - Dirk Nowitzki banked in a jumper with 5.9 seconds left and scored a game-high 28 points to lead Dallas in Orlando.
Jameer Nelson scored 24 points to lead the Magic. Ryan Anderson added 21 and Dwight Howard finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
The Mavericks trailed by 15 points in the third quarter before rallying in the final period, aided by 16 turnovers by Orlando.
Bulls 83, Pistons 71 - Luol Deng scored 20 points, Joakim Noah added 19 points and 12 rebounds, and host Chicago rolled over Detroit.
The Bulls scored the final 8 points after the Pistons closed within 4 with just under five minutes left.
Chicago improved its league-best record to 42-11, even though Derrick Rose and Richard Hamilton remained sidelined by injuries.
Kings 104, Jazz 103 - DeMarcus Cousins scored 27 points, including the winning free throw with 3.8 seconds left, and Sacramento ended a four-game losing streak by slipping past Utah in Salt Lake City.
Nets 102, Warriors 100 - Gerald Green tied the score with a thundering one-handed dunk from the baseline, then added a go-ahead basket moments later and New Jersey rallied from 19 points down in the second half to beat Golden State in Oakland, Calif.
Clippers 98, Trail Blazers 97 - Chris Paul made a driving layup with 5 seconds to go, lifting host Los Angeles over Portland as the Clippers tied their season high with their fourth straight victory.
Nuggets 99, Bobcats 88 - Arron Afflalo scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the second half and added 11 rebounds as visiting Denver held off Charlotte.
Rockets 98, Grizzlies 89 - Goran Dragic scored a season-high 25 points and Courtney Lee added 17 as host Houston dumped Memphis.
