Anze Kopitar had a goal and an assist to help the Los Angeles Kings take over the Pacific Division lead with a 4-1 victory over the Oilers in Edmonton on Friday night.
Mike Richards, Drew Doughty and Alec Martinez also scored as the Kings jumped from eighth place to the third seed in the Western Conference.
Jonathan Quick made 13 saves, allowing only Jordan Eberle's power-play goal.
Los Angeles moved a point ahead of Dallas and Phoenix in the crowded Pacific Division race and two ahead of the Sharks. The Kings and Sharks will finish the regular season with games against each other in Los Angeles on Thursday and San Jose next Saturday.
Canucks 5, Stars 2:
Max Lapierre had a goal and two assists, Henrik Sedin added three assists, and host Vancouver dropped Dallas out of the Pacific Division lead and from the third seed in the Western Conference to the seventh spot. ... The Canucks won their fifth straight to move within a point of St. Louis for the Western Conference lead. ... The Stars play in San Jose tonight and face the Sharks again in Dallas on Tuesday.
Predators 4, Red Wings 1:
Nashville moved ahead of host Detroit in the race for home-ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. ... Gabriel Bourque and Francis Bouillon scored in the second period, and Pekka Rinne made 31 saves to help give coach Barry Trotz his 500th victory with the Predators. Trotz is the fifth coach to win 500 games with one franchise, joining the New York Islanders' Al Arbour, Buffalo's Lindy Ruff, Chicago's Billy Reay and Montreal's Toe Blake.
Avalanche 4, Flames 1:
Semyon Varlamov made 38 saves for visiting Colorado, which kept its slim playoff hopes alive and all but ended Calgary's playoff hopes. ... The Avalanche snapped a four-game skid. They will wrap up the regular season with games in Denver against Columbus and Nashville.
Jets 4, Hurricanes 3:
Andrew Ladd scored 16 seconds into overtime for visiting Winnipeg, which eliminated Carolina from playoff contention. ... Kyle Wellwood scored the tying goal with 4:47 left in regulation for the Jets, who kept their slim postseason hopes alive. ... Eric Staal scored his 250th career goal for Carolina.
Blue Jackets 4, Panthers 1:
Defenseman Nikita Nikitin scored twice and had an assist, R.J. Umberger also had two goals, and Allen York made 30 saves for host Columbus. ... Florida has lost five of its past six, all of which were against teams that have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Penguins 5, Sabres 3:
Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists - his third time tallying four points in 18 games this season - as Pittsburgh slowed host Buffalo's late-season surge. ... The Sabres, who had won their previous five games, dropped into ninth place in the East, behind the Capitals.
Rangers 4, Canadiens 1:
Defenseman Michael Del Zotto had two goals in the third period as host New York won its fourth straight and moved a point ahead of the Blues in the race for the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the league's top regular-season team.
