ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - They didn't win and most lottery players in west michigan admit that, while they hoped they would, they didn't really expect to win Friday night's record breaking Mega Millions Lottery jackpot.
"I don't really expect to win," acknowledged Judy Singleton while buying tickets at Party World in Alpine Township, "But it's fun."
Friday gamblers crowded into lottery outlets to buy one or more tickets for the Friday night Mega Millions drawing.
Because there was no winner for the 18 previous drawings, l the jackpot Friday was worth $640 million. Although the odds against them are long, players said it's fun to fantasize about spending such a fortune.
"It is," agreed player Felicia Dickens. "It's so fun to dream."

If the winner takes the $640 million in equal payments over 26 years it comes to a little over $27 million a year.
The lump sum pre tax payment is about $462 million
"If I win, I win," said player Scott Bayle. "If I don't I'm not any worse off having spent 6 bucks on the Lotto and if I win I can set up my whole family forever."
