SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton left Wednesday's game against the Rockies with a jammed right heel.

The injury is not considered serious.

Hamilton jammed the heel chasing down Todd Helton's double into the left-field corner in the second inning. Hamilton left the game as a precautionary measure and went into the training room to ice it. He was replaced by Leonys Martin. "He just said his heel felt sore so we removed him," manager Ron Washington said. "We'll just see how he is tomorrow. If they feel he's fine, he'll be back out there. If they feel he needs another day, we'll give him another day."

Hamilton had just one at-bat and flied out to deep left-center. He is now 3-for-19 on the spring.

Gentry out at least three days with wrist sprain

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers outfielder Craig Gentry will be sidelined at least three to five days while recovering from a sprained left wrist. Gentry was injured when he fell on the wrist chasing a fly ball in Tuesday's game against the Indians.

"It's actually not that bad," Gentry said. "It's just sore. Hopefully it will be just a couple of days." Gentry had X-rays taken that were negative and was also examined by a hand specialist. But this the second straight spring that he's had a physical setback. He sprained his right shoulder running into a wall last year and that cost him a chance to make the team.

Gentry is 1-for-13 on the spring. He had already missed some time with a sore left hamstring, and the Rangers were hoping he would get four or five plate appearances on Tuesday. Instead he came out after three innings.

"It's frustrating, but it's part of the game," Gentry said. "When it happens you try to move on, but it's frustrating not getting at-bats or being able to finish a nine-inning game." Catcher Mike Napoli was out of the lineup for the fifth straight game with a strained left groin muscle. He took batting practice on Wednesday while doing some light running and throwing. The Rangers still don't know when he will return to the lineup.

Adams working to iron out mechanical issues

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers reliever Mike Adams pitched a scoreless inning in his first Cactus League outing but wasn't quite as sharp on Tuesday against the Indians. Adams, who had offseason hernia surgery, allowed two runs on two hits and a walk.

Adams, who had surgery on Jan. 3, was behind other pitchers when he came into camp. He said he has caught up physically but is still smoothing out his mechanics. "Not pitching for three months, that's part of what this is all about," Adams said. "If it was a week to go before the season started, it would be an issue. But we still have time to figure it out." The Rangers acquired Adams from the Padres on July 31 last season. He was 2-3 with a 2.10 ERA in 27 games for the Rangers and 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in 11 postseason appearances. His primary role is as an eighth-inning setup man. "He's got a couple of hiccups in his delivery, but he's getting close," bullpen coach Andy Hawkins said. "He's a tick away. He's making strides. He just hasn't put it in a game yet."

Worth noting

• Josh Hamilton is expected to be on the list of players who are making the trip to Las Vegas this weekend. Derek Holland and Matt Harrison will also be making the trip as the two starting pitchers against the Cubs on Saturday and Sunday. Alexi Ogando is scheduled to pitch after Harrison on Sunday.

Other players headed to Las Vegas include shortstop Elvis Andrus, center fielder Julio Borbon, first baseman Mitch Moreland, third baseman Adrian Beltre, outfielder Nelson Cruz and catcher Yorvit Torrealba.

Michael Young and Ian Kinsler are among those staying in Arizona.

• Manager Ron Washington said the Rangers aren't planning on making any cuts until after they return from Las Vegas.

• Rookie left-hander Robbie Ross is still a long shot to make the bullpen, but Washington said he has put himself in the discussions with an impressive spring. Said Washington, "He's doing what he's supposed to be doing and that's performing.
