Lace up your walking shoes. The 14th annual Kids Helping Kids Fun Walk, presented by Kimberly-Clark, is on Sunday, April 1, in the stadium at Knoxville Catholic High School.
Last year, more than 1,000 children and adults participated in the annual family-friendly event that includes a one-mile fun walk, inflatables, games, a children's art show and face painting. Registration begins at 2 p.m., and the Fun Walk begins at 3 p.m.
Proceeds benefit Columbus Home Children's Services, which help abused, neglected, abandoned or otherwise at-risk children.
"The kids who participate in the walk are raising money to help kids their own age in a situation of abuse, neglect or abandonment," said Father Ragan Schriver, executive director of Catholic Charities. "There's no better way to teach our kids how to reach out and help others."
Columbus Home service programs include in-home abuse prevention, an emergency shelter for children in immediate danger of abuse or other trauma, a group home for teen boys who have been removed from the home by the court system, and a court-ordered supervised visitation center for children whose parents are divorced or divorcing.
Participants can pre-register online at www.columbushomewalk.eventbrite.com for $15 per person and $30 per family. Add $5 to the ticket price for registration the day of the event. Ticket price includes one T-shirt per person up to four T-shirts, activities and food.
