Back in 2009 RedLynx released "Trials HD" during Xbox Live Summer of Arcade. Packed with endless amount of content and thrills. It was the surprise hit that people are playing to this day. Even though it was great game no one, not even the developers imagined the game would be a smashing success. It has sold 2 million units to date and is regarded as one of the best XBLA games on the market.
Now after three years, RedLynx has returned to give you everything you liked in "Trails HD," while introducing new features that make "Trials Evolution" a more complete game.
Starting off, the "Trials" series might as well be called the unofficial "Jackass" video game title, just without the actor's crew. That is the perfect way to describe the game in one sentence because of how created and insanely wicked this game is and the series fully embraces that nature.
The main improvements fans will notice is the level environments are now 3-D. It might sound a small feature, but it really changes the format for the series and making the little things standout much more. One of the examples of this was the reveal of the inspired Inception level. In this level, you are racing like usual to get to the edges of the map with the fewest mistakes, but now you are battling against gravity. Driving my bike through this fun, but treacherous route provides a new dimension to the gameplay. You now have multiple environmental elements will get in your way that help keep each level unique and fresh.
The level creator is back once again, but is kicked into another level. The amount of content and freedom in the level creator is staggering. From changing the landscape to inserting and placing items wherever your heart desires. What most are going to dig is the ability to changing games perspective. It is possible now to make the game into a third- or first-person biking adventure. There is so much content jammed into the level creator that the only thing that could hold you back is your creative imagination but for those who put in the time, you can play your track locally or over Xbox live. Wait . . . "Trials Evolution" has online multiplayer? You bet it dose.
What could be the biggest surprise in "Trials Evolution" is the multiplayer. You wouldn't think that "Trials" has gameplay that suits multiplayer assets, but you would be wrong. Embracing what the series is all about, four players can at the same time race against over online without having to sacrifice what makes the single player so good.
In a multiplayer match, you play spurts of three races - and then whoever has the most points is declared the winner. During a race, if you manage to fall of your bike, which you are bound to do, you are immediately dropped back into the action with the loss of a point, making the action more intense and intuitive. This is awesome because it makes it the perfect party game, due to the fact you have the option to play the multiplayer locally or through Xbox live.
Out of all the games showcased at Xbox spring showcase, this is the one everyone was talking about. Even though it's been two years, "Trials HD" is still one of the funniest games on the market and "Trials Evolution" carries everything that fans loved into this latest installments. With the inclusion of multiplayer this time around, "Trials Evolution" is going to have more staying power unlike its previous protege. "Trials Evolution" is shaping to be a fun joy ride through hell.
