NBA: Rough game for LeBron James, but Miami Heat wins - San Jose Mercury News
Mar 21st 2012, 04:20

LeBron James gave Miami two big scares. The Phoenix Suns provided another.

The Heat survived them all.

Chris Bosh scored 29 points, and the Heat used a 17-0 fourth-quarter run to erase a 10-point deficit and beat the Suns 99-95 on Tuesday night for their 14th straight home victory.

James scored 20 points, shaking off a stinger on his right elbow in the first quarter -- then a high-impact collision with Grant Hill in the final seconds, staying down for nearly 2 minutes before getting pulled to his feet.

He remained in the game. In the locker room afterward, James complained of a headache and seemed more soft-spoken than usual, though insisted he was fine.

"Never had one of those hits since I had on pads and a helmet," James said. "So it took me back to that moment. I don't know what exactly happened. ... I'm all right. I've been better. I've got a little headache. But I'll be all right."

James said he didn't believe he would need additional testing, such as exams to rule out a concussion.

He also said he was not concerned about the elbow soreness, a problem that plagued him at times when he played for Cleveland as well.

Knicks 106, Raptors 87: Amare Stoudemire had 22 points and 12 rebounds, Jeremy Lin added 18 points and 10 assists, and New York made it four straight easy victories under Mike Woodson by beating visiting Toronto.

Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler each scored 17 points

for the Knicks, who bring a week's worth of momentum to Philadelphia on Wednesday night for a matchup with the Atlantic Division-leading 76ers. The Knicks rode another night of balanced scoring and renewed defensive intensity to a comfortable lead for most of the final three quarters.

DeMar DeRozan scored 17 points for the Raptors. Jose Calderon had 11 points and nine assists in his return from a five-game absence with a sprained right ankle, but backup Jerryd Bayless was lost to a left hip pointer in the second half.

Jazz 97, Thunder 90: Paul Millsap scored 20 points, Al Jefferson had 16 and Devin Harris added 15 to lead Utah to its fourth straight victory.

Millsap had a dunk and a fallaway jumper to help the Jazz finish the game on a 10-4 run.

Russell Westbrook had 23 points for Oklahoma City, and Kevin Durant had 18, but went scoreless in the fourth quarter and misfired on all seven attempts from the field in the period.

James Harden added 17 points for the Thunder, which has lost four of its past seven games. The NBA's most efficient offense went 6 of 21 in the fourth quarter and committed 20 turnovers in the game.

Rockets 107, Lakers 104: Even Kobe Bryant was impressed by Goran Dragic, giving the Houston point guard a quick hug at midcourt after the host Rockets rallied to beat the Lakers.

Dragic hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 28 seconds left and finished with 16 points and 13 assists in the Rockets' comeback victory.

Down by nine with 5 minutes left, the Rockets had a 12-0 run to take the lead.

Luis Scola and Courtney Lee scored 23 points apiece for the Rockets. Bryant had 29 points, and Pau Gasol added 21 for the Lakers.

Pacers 102, Clippers 89: First, there was a layup. Then, there was a 30-foot 3-pointer. Then another layup. In a 2-minute span in the second quarter, Leandro Barbosa showed Indiana fans why the team traded for him last week. Barbosa scored 12 points in 18 minutes in his Pacers debut, and Indiana beat visiting Los Angeles.

Barbosa, acquired in a trade with Toronto, relishes his role as a reserve on what he considers a promising team. "I think my teammates really helped me to be out there and be comfortable," he said. "I'm very happy to get the first win at home. I'm very excited to come in and play with the second group. It's the energy group and they run like crazy, so it was enjoyable."
