Surf report: Fun combo swell shows - OCRegister

You gotta love Spring, that transitional season where summer and winter swells meet up in the form of fun combo mixes.

Down at Salt Creek today, there were some fun peaks coming through, after that fat high tide drained out a bit. Make sure you pack your booties – word is the winds did a number last weekend and the water  temps dropped to 49 in Newport Beach.

Check out the Surfline.com forecast below to find out how the week is looking.

Surfline's Kevin Wallis gives us a look at the week ahead:

Weather:

Sunny skies will prevail on Wednesday, before morning low clouds and areas of patchy fog develop Thursday and Friday. Beach temperatures will be in the mid 60s on Wednesday and then cool to the low 60s Thursday and Friday.

Water temperatures are cool after the recent strong wind and are in the low to mid 50s. Light wind and generally smooth conditions prevail in the mornings, with westerly wind in the afternoons building and putting some bump on the water.

Waves:

A fun mix of fading northwest and south-southwest swells on Wednesday has the better breaks in two-foot-to-four-foot surf, while best southerly exposed and combo breaks see larger sets at times.

Smaller surf takes over Thursday and Friday as the southerly swell fades and a modest, new northwest swell moves in. Most breaks see clean two-foot-to-three-foot surf in the morning, with larger waves up to four feet at best breaks. A slightly larger mix of swells fills in over the weekend, with more swells in the long range. Check out Surfline.com for the latest details on this swells.

Have fun, be safe and we'll see you out in the water. – Kevin Wallis, Surfline.com
