Peyton Manning will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. His reign with the Indianapolis Colts recently came to an end through. A look back at his best games are what Indianapolis fans are left with. Manning has played so many great games that it's difficult to narrow any list down to just five. These are the five that I will always remember from Peyton.
2006 AFC Championship game vs. New England Patriots
In the game that will go down as the biggest win in franchise history, Manning played one of his finest games. Peyton rallied the team from a 21-3 deficit and overcame his rivals, the New England Patriots. Manning threw for 349 yards and one touchdown and rallied the team against his longtime rival. This is one of the first games that come to mind when thinking of Peyton's legacy in Indianapolis.
2003 Monday Night game vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In a game Indianapolis won 38-35 in overtime, Manning engineered one of the best fourth quarter comebacks in NFL history. The team was trailing 35-14 with five minutes remaining and remarkably came back to win the game. This game is a testament to what happens when Manning catches fire and figures out a defense. The team then put up 28 fourth quarter points after that point. Manning finished 34 out of 47 passing for 386 yards and two touchdowns. Al this was done against the vaunted Tampa Bay defense.
2009 AFC Championship vs. New York Jets
Against possibly the best defense in the NFL, Manning put forth one of his strongest performances of his career. After starting slow, Manning figured out Rex Ryan's defense and picked them apart while securing a trip to his second Super Bowl. He finished the game with 377 yards passing and three touchdowns.
2004 Thanksgiving Day vs. Detroit Lions
In his first Thanksgiving Day game, Manning turned in one of the finest performances of his career. Peyton dismantled the Detroit Lions on his way to leading Indianapolis to a 41-9 victory. Manning completed 23 out of 28 passes for 236 yards and six touchdowns.
2003 AFC Divisional playoff win against Denver Broncos
This was Manning's first breakthrough performance in the playoffs. He completed 22 out of 26 passes for 377 yards and five touchdowns. This blowout victory advanced the team in the playoffs and Manning was largely the reason. In the playoffs, he played one of his finest games and turned in a breakthrough performance.
