The latest show which the York Fun Club has booked is a program entitled "That's Life", which is a tribute to "Old Blue Eyes" – Frank Sinatra.
It will be produced by the Lincoln Continentals, an all-male singing chorus which has been performing for many years. The Fun Club has attended several of their shows during the past 20 years.
The date will be Saturday, April 28 and the price including dinner and busfare will be only $45. We will attend the matinee performance with the bus departing at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to the Continentals' singing, there will be a guest quartet called "Voices Unlimited" as an extra treat.
This group placed 21st in the 2011 International Barbershop Competition and is the current Central States District champion.
Judging by past records, this will be another popular event, inexpensive and thoroughly enjoyable, For reservations, contact the Fun Club office ASAP, weekdays mornings at 402-362-4478.
Busy Spring
Checking our calendar of coming events, we find that we're going to be quite busy the next few weeks.
On Saturday, March 17 we're heading with two busloads to the GINW high school for the production of "Legally Blonde". We have four seats open at $65.
The following Saturday, March 24, we'll be at the Lincoln Lied Center for the show "The Fab Four", a highly-acclaimed tribute to the Beatles.
Reports are that they are as close to the original musicians as any group around. We also have four tickets available at $85, again with dinner and transportation included.
April is also a month full of Fun Club activities. Starts off on the 7th with the "Sons of the Pioneers" in Lincoln, but that's been sold out for months.
The "Titanic Event of the Century" occupies April 9-12 in Branson, which is rapidly recovering from the recent tornado which struck some of the properties. This is virtually filled, but we might be able to squeeze in a couple more members at the last minute, if they contact us soon.
The Red Star Red Army Chorus & Dance Ensemble are coming to Grand Island on Thursday, April 12 as a part of the GI Concert Series. These Cossack dancers and singers and instrumentals – 70 strong – always dazzle their audiences.
Who doesn't enjoy the acrobatic Cossack dancers? We have a few tickets still available at $50 which includes bus fare and dinner.
One of the most talented families in the entertainment business is our next event – The Lowe Family – playing in Grand Island on Tuesday, April 24. We have a limited number of tickets still available at $50 with dinner and transportation included.
This seven-member family is extremely talented. They all play several instruments; they all have beautiful voices and some are professional dancers.
The Fun Club has sponsored the Lowes in York, so we know what a great performance they offer. If anyone has missed their shows previously, here is a good opportunity.
Just call if you want to be included.
May events
We purposely don't schedule many activities in May because it's a very busy month with proms, track meets, graduation, etc. We have only the Ameristar Casino trip on May 17 and "Radiance" on Sunday, May 20.
"Radiance" is a talented vocal quartet which pays tribute to the Motown era, such as the Supremes, Martha & The Vandellas and the Marvelettes.
These ladies have been performing for years in Las Vegas, as well as on various national and international Motown tribute tours.
Some of the familiar songs in their repertoire are "Come See About Me", "Mr. Postman", "Stop in the Name of Love" and "Dancing in the Streets".
This show will be held at the Holland Center in Omaha. The price with dinner and transportation and excellent reserved seats is $85.
We have a limited number of tickets still available. Just contact the office at 402-362-4478.
