NEWBURYPORT — April vacation is right around the corner and the Newburyport Public Library Children's Room has some great events planned. Sign up for the following programs either online at and clicking on the events calendar or by calling 978-465-4428.

On Tuesday, April 17, children in grades 1 to 6 are invited to don their pajamas and slippers for our Pajama Movie Night. We will be showing the new "Muppet Movie" (rated PG) starting at 6 p.m. Popcorn and juice will be served. This a drop-in event requiring no sign-up.

On Wednesday, April 18, children in grades 2 to 6 will be using printmaking techniques and recycled materials to design and create their own photo albums from 3 to 4 p.m.

On Thursday, April 19, children in grades 2 to 6 will hear the story, "Just How Long Can a Long String Be," by Keith Baker and then create a piece of art inspired by his illustrations. Using many techniques like collage, drawing, pastels and painting, children will go home with an original work to display featuring beautiful spring birds. This program is from 10 to 11 a.m.

On Friday, April 20, local children's author Nathan Walker will be visiting the library to talk to children in grades kindergarten to grade 3 about his picture book "Floaty Feet." Walker will be showing some of his illustrations and talking about how he creates his art at 10 a.m.
