Several fun and exciting events are underway as the City of Douglasville prepares for "Springtime Fun in Douglasville" Saturday, May 5. There will be lots to see and do in downtown with events that range from a community market, talent competition, interior décor showcase and concert.
Festivities will kick off with the Main Street Spring Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as local vendors selling art, crafts and antiques fill O'Neal Plaza. Booth spaces may be reserved for $50 each by calling 678-715-6092.
During the market, local talent will take the plaza stage from 1 to 3 p.m. to compete in the Fourth Annual Douglasville's Got Talent competition. From vocalists, dancers and musicians, to comedians, poets and magicians—talents of all types and ages are invited to participate. The competition is divided into youth and adult categories. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. The registration fee for an individual or two-person act is $25. Fee for groups of three or more is $40. Call 678-715-2039 to participate or for more information. The competition is limited to 20 performances and the deadline to register is April 20.
"Come showcase your talent or be entertained by fascinating acts. Who knows, you could be Douglasville's next big star," said Marcia Hampton City of Douglasville community and downtown services director.
The day will conclude with a concert on O'Neal Plaza featuring Infinite Sound Family—Soulful Jazz. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will be the first of three free "Spring Concerts on the Plaza" presented by the Cultural Arts Council (CAC). For more information, call 770-949-2787.
