Owens still waits for NFL offer, having fun with Wranglers - NFL News

Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens hopes the league's GMs are keeping up with his fledgling career with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League.

"We're 5-1 right now and I'm having fun. I'm using it as a way to keep myself in shape to play a few more years," Owens told SiriusXM NFL Radio last week, according to Comcast SportsNet

"As far as health, I'm fine. I'm just looking for an opportunity." Owens said. "The Indoor League is quicker ... it's faster than the outdoor game. It has enhanced my route-running ability. If anything, I've benefited from, and noticed how quick coming in and out of my breaks I've become."

Former NFL linebacker Derrick Brooks, now the president and general manager of the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm, has been impressed so far by Owens' short stint in the IFL.

"I see humility and I see hunger," Brooks told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "A lot of guys would not step back and play indoor football to prove to teams that they can still play ... If anyone has any questions about the strength of the knee, from what I've seen, if I were a team, I would give him a call."

The outspoken Owens has 193 yards and seven touchdowns in four games for the Wranglers this season. He last played in the NFL in 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals, when he notched 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdown. Owens tore an ACL during the following offseason and didn't play in 2011.
