Veterans Park, 1332 Veterans Parkway in St. Johns, is one of three locations for this year's annual Easter Egg hunts coordinated by St. Johns County Recreation and Parks Department. The hunts begin at 11 a.m. at each location, but it is recommended that you arrive early so you can be there when the Easter Bunny makes a special appearance.

Children age eight and under are invited to participate, and each child should bring a basket or bag to hold the candy-filled eggs. Parents, don't forget your cameras. The other two locations for this year's hunts are Treaty Park (1595 Wildwood Drive) and Al Wilkie Park (6140 Main Street, Hastings). For more information, visit www.co.st-johns.fl.us/Recreation. Special thanks to this year's sponsors: Florida Power & Light, Beaches Adult Soccer League and Villages Soccer.

Aqua Egg Hunt: The Julington Creek Plantation CDD will host a floating Easter egg hunt Saturday in the Fun Pool at the JCP Recreation Center and Athletic Club. Registration is $6 per child ($20 for four or more children in the same family), and participation is limited to 30 children in each age group: preschool level at 8:30 a.m.; kindergarten and 1st grade at 9 a.m.; 2nd and 3rd grade at 9:30 a.m.; and 4th and 5th grade at 10 a.m. Mesh bags for collecting eggs will be provided, and each child will receive a prize.

The child who collects the most floating and sinking eggs in each age group will receive an additional prize. Children who cannot swim must be accompanied by one adult in the water at all times. For more information and to download the registration form, visit www.jcpcdd.org.

Bartram Bash: The 8th Annual Bartram Bash is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at Alpine Groves Park, 2060 State Road 13 in Switzerland. The event is free and open to the public, and people of all ages are invited to be there to enjoy nature walks, kayak rides, musical entertainment, children's crafts, food and much more.

This Earth Day event is also a birthday celebration for William Bartram, who was America's first native-born naturalist/artist and for whom the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway was named. Free orange juice will be served during the morning hours, and a free lunch of hot dogs, chips, drinks and birthday cake will also be available.

A butterfly release is scheduled and Mike Adams will perform as William Bartram, speaking on the history of the area. Bring a camp chair or a blanket and enjoy the fun. For more information, call Beverly Fleming at 522-1573.

Relay For Life: The Relay For Life of Bartram Trail is scheduled to run from noon May 5 to 6 a.m. on May 6 at Bartram Trail High School. Activities are planned to fill all 18 hours of relay, and it's a family-friendly event that has something for everyone — those who have been affected by cancer, those who have taken care of loved ones with cancer and those who just want to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Relay is the signature fundraiser event for the American Cancer Society. For information about how you can get involved by contributing or forming a team, visit www.bartramrelay.com.

Running of the Knights: Creekside High School will host its 2nd Annual Running of the Knights 5K and Fun Run May 18 at the school. The Fun Run will begin at 6:15 p.m. and the 5K kicks off at 7 p.m. Entry fees are $10 for the Fun Run and $25 for the 5K, but the 5K cost will increase to $35 the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit the CHS Athletic and Band programs. For more information or to register, visit www.creeksideknights.com.
