Richard Hamilton posted six points, three assists and four turnovers in 12 minutes Monday night to help the Chicago Bulls grab a 51-40 halftime lead over the Houston Rockets.
Hamilton had missed the previous 14 games with an injured right shoulder.
"He's doing fine," coach Tom Thibodeau said pregame.
The Bulls, who are trying to avoid two straight regular-season losses for the first time since Feb. 5-7, 2011, will again be without Derrick Rose. He missed his 11th straight game with his groin injury.
"He's moving along like we anticipated," Thibodeau said. "As long as he's getting better each day, that's all we're concerned with. We want him to be completely healthy. We're encouraged by his progress. He just has to remain patient and keep doing the things that he is doing."
The Bulls got a big boost from their bench, who helped them outscore the Rockets 29-14 in the second quarter. John Lucas III's six points led a balanced bench attack.
Joakim Noah led the Bulls with 12 points.
