Land Rover is celebrating 25 years in North America and there's always no better way to celebrate than with a fun little convertible. A topless Land Rover? What would the queen say?
You don't realize how compact the Range Rover Evoque actually is until you stand next to the convertible concept, which looks about the size of an overgrown Mini. It's a great idea, a quirky play on a brand known for its British stiff upper lip.
For now, it's only a concept, but we wouldn't be surprised if this one gets built simply so Land Rover can say that it wants to have a little fun in the world.
"The Range Rover Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible," says Land Rover design chief Gerry McGovern. "This study is not a traditional convertible design execution - instead we have worked with the balance of the Range Rover Evoque's lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable."
The soft-top convertible concept is based on the Range Rover Evoque Coupe. It features a fully retractable roof yet still will have rollover protection, an important part of the brand's go-anywhere mantra.
So watch out, Jeep. There could be a Range Rover Evoque convertible in your rear-view mirror in the future.
