E3 2021 Announced as 'Reimagined, All-Virtual' Event Coming in June

E3 will return in 2021 as a "reimagined, all-virtual" event, organizers announced Tuesday. E3 2021 will take place June 12-15, and will feature content from Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) said in a news release. From a report: Game developers and publishers will showcase their games at E3 2021 "directly to fans around the world," the ESA said. E3 2021 content will be free to access, thanks to unannounced global media partners. "We are evolving this year's E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable center stage for video games," said Stanley Pierre-Louis, president and CEO of the ESA. Apex Legends Season 9 Promises 'A Ton Of Titanfall' Content

Respawn has done a phenomenal job at ensuring that the Apex Legends experience continues to evolve in a meaningful way. Set within the Titanfall universe, many players have been wondering if the battle royale game would be incorporating more fully with its Titanfall counterpart. Luckily, Apex Legends season 9 promises just that, though we're selfishly hoping that a Titanfall 3 will be coming down the pipeline sooner rather than later.  On Reddit, one player shared a clip with Fuse's "ready" sound that seems directly connected to Titanfall: Fuse's tactical ready sound is from Titanfall, different from other legends. from r/apexlegends A recent roundtable panel revealed the confirmation fans have been looking for, at least regarding Apex, confirming more Titanfall-inspired content on the way. After saying that players are "going to see a ton of Titanfall coming into Apex in one way or another," the panel continued saying:  “Titanfall is a war story, Apex is life after the war; we’re trying to integrate Titanfall into that. We’re looking at what Titanfall means for this universe. It has lasting impacts that are going to become bigger and bigger.” Specifics weren't given, but the response has been very mixed. Some have been taking to social media and the game's forum with worries that Titanfall's influence may detract from what makes Apex special, while others are just excited to get more content revolving around the shooter franchise. One thing is for certain: Respawn has done amazing work. When Apex first launched, the reception was incredible. That being said, it quickly waned with lackluster seasons. That changed a few seasons in, changes that brought a plethora of new characters, new gameplay mechanics, and a fleshed-out ongoing story. It will be interesting to see where the studio takes Apex next, but it looks like the show is nowhere near curtain call. Outriders is a game that isn't defined by big new ideas, but rather a variety of familiar elements mixed together in experimental ways. It's a role-playing game with loot-shooter elements; it's a serious, dark sci-fi outing with a big dose of goofiness and humor; it's a cover shooter that demands you rush out and smash enemies with your ludicrously lethal magic powers. Whether this mixture works for you will determine how much you'll enjoy exploring the war-torn planet of Enoch and the last desperate vestige of humanity clinging to life there. Outriders blends well-known video game elements into something new and challenging, and while it takes itself seriously, it isn't self-serious. The world of Enoch seems huge and strange, and while the game is literally about the last gasp of the human race that has ripped itself apart, its heavy themes are always lightened up by a general blockbuster goofiness and characters defined by their gallows humor. Your place within it is as an accidental superbeing with space magic powers, and you're mostly just annoyed that irritating people are wasting your time with their gopher chores. It's a fun, self-aware fit. Though Outriders looks like a live game of the loot-shooter persuasion, it's actually much more Mass Effect 3 than Destiny 2--like Mass Effect, RPG progression and cover-shooting are more the engine of the game than chasing the next new gun. Outriders is, in fact, a cover-shooter RPG with a hearty dose of gear progression, leaning heavily into an epic story told with tons of dialogue, cutscenes, character interactions, and collectible lore.Continue Reading at GameSpot

CW's Powerpuff Casts Nicholas Podany As Mojo Jojo

CW's live-action adaptation of the Cartoon Network's Powerpuff Girls series is gearing up for its pilot, and that means tons of casting news. The latest actor to join the cast is Nicholas Podany The Cursed Child), who will play the live-action version of frequent Powerpuff foe Mojo Jojo, Variety reports. Podany will play the part of Joseph "Jojo" Mondel Jr., who Variety says was a "nerdy, power-hungry, insecure" kid obsessed with the Powerpuff Girls. Interestingly, there's no word on whether Podany will be getting into a chimp costume for the series or if he'll be simply playing a villain with the same name. By giving him a full name, though, the writers seem to be taking a page from the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure anime, which gives characters names like "Joseph Joestar" and "Kujo Jotaro" and shortens them to "JoJo." It also seems to suggest that he'll be playing the character as human, but that's pure speculation. He could wear some chimp-themed prosthetics, or be all CGI like The Flash's Gorilla Grodd. The previously-announced cast includes Chloe Bennett (Agents of Shield), Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Donald Faison (Scrubs) will play the part of Powerpuff creator Professor Utonium. The show, titled Powerpuff, will follow the now-grown Powerpuff Girls as they contend with losing their childhood to crime fighting and try to navigate relationships in the wake of that trauma. GTA Online Update: Get Bonus Rewards On Stunts

Stunt week in Grand Theft Auto's online multiplayer component, GTA Online, is giving players bonus rewards on Drop Zone, Parachute Jobs, Stunt Jumps, Biker Missions, and more. Parachute Jobs, accessible by Parachute markers on the map or via the Jobs list, will give players double rewards. Parachute Job participants will get a free Bigness Jackal Sweater, too. Parachutes, Parachute Bags, and Parachute Smoke will all be free this week as well. Biker Sell Missions, Work, and Challenges will also issue double rewards. Drop Zone will offer more, and players will receive triple GTA cash and RP for participating. The Elder Scrolls Online Is Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series X With New-Gen Enhancements

In the shadow of its big Oblivion expansion, The Elder Scrolls Online makes the jump to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this summer with the Console Enhanced edition. As the name implies, this updated port takes advantage of the current console’s power by allowing ESO to run natively on those systems, giving the game’s performance and graphical fidelity a big shot in the arm. The update arrives on June 8 and comes free of charge to those who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of ESO. Console Enhanced bumps the game’s framerate from 30 frames per second to 60 while playing in Performance Mode. Fidelity Mode nets you native 4K visuals and 30 fps. According to the official press release, load times have also been cut in half.  ESO’s draw distance has also been nearly doubled across the board, so you can gaze even further out into Tamriel’s horizon. Other graphical perks include improved reflections and shadows, circular depth of field for more realistic background views, as well as high-resolution textures and updated antialiasing. It also sports better ambient occlusion and screen space global illumination for improved lighting.  Click here to watch embedded media Console Enhanced will launch simultaneously with Update 30 of ESO. The news comes alongside the launch of the Blackwood Prologue, a free standalone story that leads into the year-long Gates of Oblivion event. The chapter is live now, as is a Free Play Event that gives new players free access to ESO’s base content and Vvardenfell zone until April 13.  As a reminder, The Elder Scrolls Online is part of the Xbox Game Pass library. It’s unclear if those who play that version are eligible for the free Console Enhanced update since you’re not technically purchasing it. It Takes Two review – joyful family adventure for socially distanced duos

Electronic Arts, PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC Ispired by family-in-peril adventures like Frozen, this engrossing if didactic puzzler uses old-fashioned teamwork to great effect One of the big cultural stories of lockdown is how friends are staying in touch and having fun through game worlds. The time is right, then, for the latest two-player adventure by the Swedish-Lebanese designer Josef Fares, whose games blend puzzles, synchronised action and emotional narratives into co-op challenges that require more from the participants than simply pulling two levers at the same time. The story in the Fares-directed It Takes Two is clearly inspired by family-in-peril animated adventures such as Toy Story, Frozen and Madagascar. A young girl is upset that her mum and dad are divorcing and, when she cries on two dolls she has made, her parents’ minds are transferred into these miniature cloth and clay bodies. Guided by a talking relationship self-help book named Dr Hakim, they must work together to get back to their daughter, save their relationship and reverse the spell.
